After looking back to the other design article on framing and covers for winter storage I found I liked liked the idea of using 4″ PVC drain pipe for the ridge pole as well as using 1″ PVC for the rafters . For simplicity’s sake I decided to use a Tee with a 2×3 down into the bilge through a plywood insert in the bilge access opening in the floorboards rather than using 2″pvc to support the ridge pole amidships.
Since I felt it would be easier to store the ridge pole in pieces I decided rather than glue the pieces together I would use tek screws to hold it together then just remove the screws to take it apart.
All that was left to do was find a cover. I ended up with a 15′ x 25′ heavy duty poly tarp which fit like a glove and now Sailaway is ready for winter and the inevitable projects to come.
