The Denise Award is currently given each year to an individual who has significantly contributed to the well-being of the SSA. The article that follows is from Soundings, the newsletter of the early SSA, written in 2002 that describes the origin of the award and its initial purpose. There were only a few Around Prudence races, and the award languished until 2012 when we begin to award it for contribution to the SSA.
