MOONSHADOW was Ryder’s display model in the 1984 Newport Boat Show and was equipped with most every option available. She’s hull #38 of a reported 45 built, making her one of the later Sea Sprite 34’s built. She’s had four caring owners. She spent her first years on the Great Lakes, moved to CT in around 1992 and to Maine in 2010. She has been conscientiously maintained and appears to be in excellent condition. She’s in the water on a mooring in Georgetown, ME and may be easily seen.
Accommodations:
Sleeps six. V berth forward, enclosed head with vanity and shower next aft to starboard. Hanging locker and storage opposite to port. Main cabin with settees port and starboard. Starboard settee pulls out to form double berth. Bulkhead-mounted teak dining table with leaf. U-shaped galley to port, nav station and quarterberth opposite to starboard. Interior features ash hull ceilings, teak veneer sole, and standing headroom. Varnished teak interior. Bulkhead-mounted Propane Cozy Cabin Heater in main cabin, externally vented with separate propane tank in second propane locker. All interior cushions replaced in 2016, including 4″ firm foam and oyster Sunbrella fabric. Brass LED reading lights in main and forward cabins.
Electronics and Navigation:
Garmin 741xs GPS/chartplotter/radar (2018) on swing-out bracket at companionway, Raymarine A70D chartplotter/GPS (2015), Autohelm Evolution EV100 autopilot (2018), Standard Horizon Matrix VHF radio transceiver with speaker mounted in cockpit. Ritchie SP5 pedestal-mounted compass. Radar antenna mounted on mast.
Galley:
Galley features a gimballed Shipmate two burner, stainless steel, propane stove with oven and stainless steel safety bar, double stainless steel sinks with hot and cold pressurized water system, fresh water foot pump, and foot pump for ice box pump-out, Sea Frost engine-driven coldplate refrigerated icebox.
Plumbing:
Fresh water: One 40+/- gallon bladder tank in keel, One 14+/- gallon bladder tank under V Berth. Two deck fills. Total water capacity: 50+ gallons.
Pressurized hot and cold water in galley and head. Foot pumps for cold water in galley and head.
Bilge pumps: Manual bilge pump in cockpit, electric bilge pump in bilge,
Holding Tank: Marine toilet connected to 24 gallon polyethylene tank with deck pumpout and macerator pump (2009) for overboard discharge.
Toilet: Groco HF rebuilt in 2008.
6 gallon hot water heater works off of engine and 110 volt dockside system, new in 2015.
All fresh water hoses replaced in 2015.
Head and galley fixtures replaced in 2015.
Head and galley fresh water foot pumps rebuilt in 2015.
Sails and Rigging:
7/8 fractional rig with keel-stepped Hall Spars aluminum mast, aluminum boom. Spars professionally painted in 2020. Sail inventory consists of Hood mainsail in good condition with two sets of reef points and lazy jacks, Hood 130% genoa (2006) in good condition, storm jib, storm trisail with stainless steel track on mast, cruising spinnaker with sock, 110% hank-on genoa, and 90% hank-on jib. Hood Seafurl roller-furling system for headsails. Both halyards are led aft to cockpit. Lewmar bronze winch inventory includes two #46 self-tailing genoa sheet primaries, #40 self-tailing mainsheet winch mounted on coachroof, #40 self-tailing halyard winch mounted on coachroof, and a #16 self-tailing deck-mounted winch for the roller-furling control line.
