Rona has given my family and me tremendous fun and adventure since we bought her in 2009. We’ve taken her on many trips in southern New England waters- Gardiner’s Bay. Long Island Sound, Block Island, Fishers Island, Newport, Cuttyhunk, Noank, Mystic Seaport. We’ve grown, though, and need to move on to a bigger boat.
In the 9 years I’ve owned her, I have made numerous repairs and upgrades to Rona which have kept her fun and safe to sail, and dry and comfortable below. These include:
Deck and Hull
• Original chainplates ground out and new stainless chainplates fabricated and through-bolted to new glassed-in 3/4″ G10 transverse bulkheads.
• Cockpit sole re-cored
• Aft hatch combings re-cored
• All deck hardware removed and either replaced with new or re-bedded with all new ss bolts including oversized foredeck cleat and chocks. All deck holes over-drilled, filled with epoxy & silica and re-drilled to size. All holes chamferred to contain sealant.
• Backer plates installed for all deck hardware
• Custom-made stern pulpit, (2014)
• Replaced Tiller (2010)
• Bottom stripped, completely re-faired. Ballast casting re-faired and bottom epoxy barrier coated, four coats. (2010)
Electronics and Mechanical
• Electronics replaced with modern, Blue Sea breaker panel and battery switch.
• Garmin GPSMAP 741xs chartplotter mounted to port bulkhead (2017)
• Yamaha 6hp outboard (2015)
• Simrad Tillerpilot (2012)
• 85Ah deep cycle marine battery (2017)
• 15W solar panel to charge battery (2012)
• Rule electric 500 GPM electric bilge pump (2015)
• Original head replaced with new porta-potty (2012)
• Gimballed single-burner propane stove (2012)
Sails and Rigging
• All standing rigging, tangs and turnbuckles replaced (2013)
• New Mainsail w/2 full battens and 2 half battens (2015, Doyle Sails)
• New 135% jib (2013, North Sails)
• New main halyard, jib halyard and sheave, furling line, topping lift (2013-16)
• New custom-made cockpit cushions (2014)
• New jib tracks (port and starboard, 2010)
• New gooseneck (2010)
• Lewmar winches greased each season, rebuilt 2012 (new spring and pawls)
• New boomvang (2014)
• Topping lift (2010)
