2022 SEA SPRITE REGATTA

Under bright blue summer skies and 12 – 14 knots of southwesterly breeze, PRO John Mooney and Roger Carney set up two wonderful races for the 2022 Sea Sprite Annual Regatta.  While our participation was down somewhat from last year due to summer travel plans and boat upgrading, it was delightful sailing and stiff, close competition.

After two races perennial champion, Bob Catani nailed down his reputation as the skipper to keep in your sights as he scored two first-placed finishes.  In race number two, the time separating the top two boats, however, was only ten seconds after a four-mile race!

After the regatta, skippers and crews held a pizza dinner and awards ceremony around the firepit at the Bristol Yacht Club (No fire in the pit, however, since the air temperatures were in the 92-degree range.)

The results:

Bob Catani – Bramasole – 1 – 1 = 2

Bob Rude – Oasis – 2 – 2 = 4

Dom Messerlli – New Hope – 3 – 3 = 6

Mark Rotsky – Lullabelle – 4  – Did Not Start 

The next big regatta event for the Sea Sprite Class will be the Annual Race Around Hog Island scheduled for Saturday, September 10.  All skippers are welcome to join us.  Borrow a boat and join the fray!  A perfect way to wind up the summer racing season.  Contact Dom Messerli, Fleet Captain, for more information 484-988-0477.

The annual mid-summer Sea Sprite Regatta is scheduled for July 25th this summer. Here is an email from Dom announcing the event:

Great news to share, our annual Sea Sprite Regatta is coming up in a little less than tree weeks on Saturday July 23, at 1pm! To sign up and join the fun with your fellow Sea Sprite sailors, simply fill out the online application here:

As with previous years, the regatta is run by the Bristol Yacht Club and this year it will be in combination with the J22 regatta. The Sea Sprites and the J22’s will have their own, separate one design starts. You will find the NOR under the above link and on the Sea Sprite Association web page. The SI’s will be soon be available at the same locations.
