On August 24th, Bob Catani in Bramisole took the Sea Sprite 23 title in the Herreshoff Classic Regatta run by the Herreshoff Marine Museum.
Great participation was a hallmark of the race. Paul Sollito in his newly rebuilt Zara came up from Wickford to resume racing in the sea sprite 23 class. He was joined by Brian Anderson in Pale Rider from East Greenwich to challenge the Bristol sailors. The first race featured a fleet close finish, with the 4th through 7th boats overlapped at the finish. The second race, that took us around Hog Island, presented challenging and complex outgoing tidal currents. Bob Catani won the series, followed by Paul Sollito in second and Herb Browne in third. We sailed with the S-boats and other classes of storied Herreshoff-built boats. It was a beautiful sight.
A beautiful sunset cookout set on the docks and wharves of the Herreshoff Museum capped a wonderful day of sailing.
Congratulations, Bob and the Bramisole crew!
